FEW DECLARATIONS FROM THE BIG EVENTS. New York. March IS. — Mondav was d ciarabea day for the Great Trial, the Doable Brent, the Advance and Century Stakes. No names were stricken from either the Century or Advance, but there were a number of withdrawals from the two-year-old fixtures ami late mails may bring a few more. H. I*. Whitney lias declared liis unnamed Hamburg — Elusive filly from the Oreat Trial. W. T. Rau withdrew Elleiidi and •!. I. Chinn declared the colt Donald Macdonald, while James B. Brady has withdrawn District* Attorney from both the Oreat Trial and tli • Double Event. The other declarations from the Double Event are August Belmonts Qeedheart and P. T. Chbnma Donald Macdonald. The stewards of the Jockey Club have reinstated tli ■ Virginia turfman. J. E. I.ane, and Oeorgc J. W. Bissell to good standing. These gentlemen were outlawed last fall for participating in the running meeting at Jamestown. Va. Jockey Heffernan, who rede at that meeting, was also restored to good standing. . William R. Martin of Lancaster. Ia". lias been granted a license to ride as a gentleman rider under rule 14!l of the Rules of Racing. Andy Blakel y has arrived from Kan Francisco and will take lip the Emery horses at once. The outlook for Benning is very good, the decision of Justice Stafford in the Walters case apparently Vicing all that is nec ssary to prevent trouble with the betting, although the district commissioners threat n to continue making arrests, but it is thought that an injunction may be had restraining them from bothering the meeting. The racing In Havana is said to be a big success and they expect to have a. thirty days meeting m_X.t winter.
