ACTIVITY IN CANADIAN RACING PROJECTS Three Tracks Will Probably Minister to the Sport in Quebec Province Across the line in Canada various racing projects are afoot some commendable some otherwise In the province of Quebec there seems to be ground ripe for sowing and that the sowers are not asleep seems to be attested by the following statement sent to Daily Hacing Form from Montreal by one conversant with the situation in which he says A saysA new race course will lie built in Ottawa this finmnicT It will IKJ modeled on the lines of tin Montreal Club and the meetings will be short iot more than ten days This project is not the result of any turf condition across the Imrder but Is simply the continuance of a welllaid plan for three good tracks in Quebec of which Blue Bon nets was the first completed When these tracks have been completed there will be no longer any reason for complaint on the part of owners vho come here and object to a long shipment to a short meeting The three tracks will provide five weeks of racing spring and fall in the province of Quo bee and this is considered much better than giving one long meeting in one place The third track will e built in Quebec The very best citizens of Ottawa and Quebec are in these clubs and racing will planeThe be conducted on the highest possible plane The plan outlined seems to be legitimate and con ¬ servative Ottawa is the capital of the Dominion and a lively hustling city It should support a short meeting profitably The success of racing at Montreal is already established What Quebec will do remains to be seen It is old enough populous enough and rich enough But the people are pecu ¬ liar and to succeed there a racing plant must be conducted by those in whom they have confidence confidenceIt It is not in the province of Quebec alone that plans looking to an extension of racing are under consideration A dispatch from London Out says London saysLondon Ont July 20 A IL J5rcnera li adfc j horseman stateil that backing is assured for tii construction of a mile track for running races in this city and expects that it will be ready next year A party was out viewing probable sites Saturday SaturdayBesides Besides this London affair it Is reported racing over the Dufferin Park track near Toronto is In contemplation by A M Orpen and sonic associates Dnfferln Park has heretofore been used as a trotting track A plan was formulated last year for a long meeting at this track to follow the Ontario Jockey Clubs fall meeting at Woodbine Park but it was not carried out There may be some connection between the London venture and that suggested for Dufferin Park ParkThere There may e such a thing as overdoing in the way of racing In Ontario r It is questionable whether anything more is desirable there than is now fur ¬ nished by the plants at Toronto Fort Erie Hamil ¬ ton and Windsor
