PERSONAL LIBERTY LEAGUE NOT FORMED Lexington Ky July 25 Kentucky will not have a Personal Liberty League After deliberating three days the committee of gentlemen appointed at the mass meeting of breeders business and professional men July IS this afternoon issued an adelrcss to the people of the state signed by Colonel E F Clay as chairman and Touett Shonse as secretary Tlie committee says We believe it is not wise or in ¬ cumbent upon ns to form now any organization which might be construed In the light of having political bearing but we earnestly appeal to all good citizens to join with us in propagating sane and wist public sentiment which will conduce to tlie happi ¬ ness and prosperity of all our people and the de ¬ struction of the rights of none llie nonellie committees address stands for the enforce ¬ ment and observance of the laws but opposes the passage of such laws as set at naught individual rights or depreciate large property values without proper justification or tend to regulate the private acts and habits which tho private individual should control An appeal is made directly to thoughtful responsible business men In this and all other states to resist the extremists at the polls and to pre ¬ vent legislationThe enactment of ruinous and radical legislation The declaration is made that the radical legis ¬ lation which has been enacted and proposed within tho past few years and which is being constantly extended makes necessary concerted action of good citizens for the purpose of selfprotection The eleclaratlon of a belief that racing properly regu ¬ lated by state racing commissions as In Kentucky and New York is a necessary adjunct to the e velopmeiit of thoroughbred and trotting horses and a showing of the depreciation of millions of elollurs worth of property through laws affecting racing Is forcibly presented to those who carry the burden of taxation
