CALIFORNIA HACING TO BE ATTACKED Los Angeles Cal July 25 The next session of the legislature Will see a battle to destroy horse racing In California Already the forces opposed to and in favor of racing are organizing and every candidate for the legislature will be besieged on two sides sidesDr Dr A C Chapman head of the AntiSaloon League in Los Angeles will lead the fight on horse racing and Tom Williams the recognized political head of the racing interests in the state will direct tlin elefense Chapman says he will personally take the field and make speeches against race track bet ¬ ting He hopes to force every candidate for the legislature to go on record for or against the new law prohibiting betting on races racesWilliams Williams is now touring the state to organize the racing men and those favoring the sport He declares that racing Is In no danger because the strongest support of the sport Is coming from the business Interests who realize that with horse racing eliminated throughout the east and south hundreds of thousands of dollars will be drawn to California next season if racing is allowed to continue
