COMBINATION TO REDUCE EXPENSES. Lexington. Ky.. Octolcr 24. After the departure of the stallion Adam and twenty-three mares for France in September, only the stallion Handspring, a dozen mares and twenty weanling thoroughbreds were left in the Millstreain Stud at Oakwood Farm. The lease held by Andrew Miller and Franklin Bishop on this farm does not expire until three years from next February and there was some wonder as to what thev would do with the land, which is decidedly niore than is necessary to the maintenance of the few horses they now own. This problem has been solved through the ierfeetion of an economical arrangement with Messrs H. K. Knapp, R. T. Wilson. Jr.. and Herman B. Duryea. For years Messrs. Knapp and Wilson have kept their mares at Hal 1. Headleys Beaumont Farm and Mr. Duryens borses, including the stallion Irish Lad. have for some time been at Elliot C. Cowdins farm near Klrklevington. A few days ago they were all re-lroved to the Oakwood Farm and superintendent Charles McCraekeu now has seventy-two head under bis care.
