De Mund wheeled just as the barrier was sprung and was left at the post, but went after his opponents and. wearing the leaders down while rounding the far turn, finished with a game effort in the stretch and outstayed Tasley at the end. The latter is a quick beginner, beating the others away from the barrier, set a fast early pace, but tired in the last sixteenth. Sal Volatile was much used in following Tasley for the first half and tired in the final drive. The others were outclassed. The winner ran the last five furlongs in 1:00. Live Wire dashed to the front quickly and opened a winning lead in the first quarter, was under slight restraint until in the last quarter and had something in reserve to stall off Gridiron. The latter was bumped about in the first sixteenth, but closed up steadilv after being carried wide when entering the homestretch and outstayed Giles when it came to a drive. The latter ran to his best form and finished fast and gamely. Queen of the Hills showed early speed, but quit in the stretcli drive. Lebolt set a fast pace with Ragman for the first half and raced the latter into defeat, then hung on gamely under a drive in the stretch and outstayed Taboo at the end. The latter began slowly and was kept on the inside, then was carried very wide when entering the homestretch and was gaining steadily on the winner at the end. Aralia was well up and was a game contender all the way. Ragman was very sore when going to the post and tired badly in the last furlong. Pearl Point broke well, but immediately dropped out and did not run his race. Great Jubilee ran fairly well. The winner was entered for : iu bid. Scratched 777C33High Range. 115. Rufus moved up gamely with a menacing challenge when going to the eleventh jump and appeared the winner at the last fence, but tired at the end. Rye Boy ran a surprls-in-Iv good race and furnished game contention througli the final quarter. Sandy Crecker was used up in racing with the winner through the first turn of the field. Bessie Kiser fell at the first jump and George Lcipor lost his rider at the same fence. The winner was entered for 00: no bid.
