Garland, after nearest pursuit for three furlongs, dropped back and came again. Merry Gift, away very badly, loomed up prominently after going half of the journey, but dropped out in the stretch. Saraeinesca, after forward pursuit, dashed through on the inside into the lead midway of the stretch and held sway to the end. Transvaal, forwardly placed under a pull early, bolted and lost ten lengths on the stretch turn, then could never get up. but was easily best. Esoteric shows steady improvement, broke slowly, but improved his position quickly and closed up steadily in the last half. Okenlte. from a tlat-footed start, trailed and sulked seemingly for the first half, but closed a big gap at the end. Battleaxe waa outpaced, but steadily improved his position. Halifax, palpably short, set the early pace, but failed to stay. Dolly Spanker, after prominent pursuit, went wide on the stretch turn and quit finally. Yorkist is out of place in sprints. Tivoli threatened to spreadeagle the others for the first mile, but gave way readily to the winner when challenged. May River, a slow beginner and nearly left, closed an immense gap on the extreme outside and got up in a final rush to win going away. Chaffinch helped force the pace from the start, but succumbed in a long and game closing effort. Glucose outbroke and outpaced the others to midway of the stretch and tired after a severe stretch effort. Secret Service improved his early position rapidly and loomed up menacingly on the stretch turn, but quit finally. Bliss Carmen made up ground from a poor start. Meriso dropped back on the last turn.
