: i : : i , 1 CRACKS IN CHARGE OF FRANK WEIR. The arrival of Frank Wolr on the coast last week added another formidable stable to California racing. The horses which he will race at Oakland, belonging to himself. "Dave Johnson and F. H. Milden. include besides the famous sprinter. Roseben. tho following well-known performers: Sir Lynne-wood, Milford. Jim Gaffney. Sheriff Foley. Rock-stone. Sir John. Strike Out The Vicar. Oressina. Fancy and two yearlings. One of the yearlings is a bay colt by Cosarion Incendiary, and has been named Fire, a very appropriate name. The other is a colt by Sir Dixon Much Ado, which will be named DodQ. Weir brought his apprentice boys. Holmes and King, along with him. It is the Intention of Weir to remain, at Oakland during the winter, but he will make occasional shipments to Santa Anita for some of the big stakes. Weirs return to the coast Is a source of gratification to a large number of turfmen, who know him either personally or by his reputation, that has always .been above reproach. His record as a trainer shows him to be careful and painstaking, his greatest achievement being the training of the greatest of sprinters. Roseben. He has been very successful so far this season, having saddled iforty-four winners to date, which number will no doubt be Increased considerably before the coast season is far advanced.
