SANTA ANITA SLOWED BY RAINFALL. Light Wool Defeats Mark Antony II. and Stanley . Fay Proper Takes a Race. Los Angeles. Cal.. December 2. Bain during the early morning bours rendered the track sloppy today, giving the mud-larks a chance to show their mettle. As is usual on days of this kind much scratching 1 was indulged in. most of the fields being small. Old : ProiK-r redeemed himself today for his poor showing of last Friday. The going was made to order for him and lie was at all times held an odds-on favorite. His T-.izy antics at the post caused anxiety among his backers for a few minutes, but. getting off forward ly when itihe barrier "went up. he piloted the others all the way. winning in a canter. Henry McDaniel put his regular daily over when Light Wool, held at second elvoice in the letting, proved an easy victor in the fourth race. He had little difficulty in disposing of Mark Antony II.. the favorite, holding him safe all the way. Judge Hamilton did not like the complexion of the betting in this race on Stanley Fay and cautioned jockey Harris to make every effort to win. but the Walker crack took unkindly to the going and never threatened. The attendance was surprisingly large for the disagreeable racing conditions. It was draw-in day and eighteen books answered the roll call. The stockholders of the Los Angeles Racing Association hold their annual meeting here December 15. Among the latest arrivals from New York are Andy Piatt and Barney Michaels. Edward Sinclair, partner of W. O. Parmer in the Edenwoltl Stud, near Nashville, arrived here today and will remain throughout the winter.
