Dredkin raced Royal Stone into subjection in the first half and. taking kindly to the sloppy going, came away with a tush in the stretch, winning as his rider pleased. Mattie Russell, outpaced to the stretch, was in close quarters when an eighth out. but got clear iu the final sixteenth and finished fast. Sandpiper seemed unable to extend himself freely for the first half, but rallied in the final sixteenth and came fast under the whip. Father Stafford ran well and tired only in the last hundred yards. Royal Stone set the" pace to the stretch and tired. Scratched 75271 Shapdale. 107. The latter showed speed, but fell away on the far turn, then rallied in the stretch under the whip and finished resolutely. Mike Jordan seemed unable to extend himself freely in the going.
