ANOTHER BARGAIN AMERICAN CHASER. "It has apparently escaped notice." says the London Sportsman, "that American-bred animals have within twelve months won both the Grand National and the National Hunt Steeplechase. Rather curiously both were sold out of J. B. Haggins string of American-bred yearlings on the same afternoon at the second July sales of 1899. when Rubio winner of the Grand National, by Star Ruby, out of La Toquera. fell to the bid of D. Pennant for 5. and Wyehwood winner of the National Hunt Steeple ehase March M this year, by Sir Modred. out of Dixianue. was lxjught by the Newmarket trainer, 0. Blackwell. for 00."
