The front of tho grandstand was iTowded and Mr. Kraus was on hand to superintend tho working of his string, which will be about all the fast work asked from them until they arrive at 1imlico on the 10th. The Gardener, Witching nour and Sans Souci II. which has improved into a fine filly, wore galloped and then broke from the five-furlong i ost and worked seven furlongs in 1:31. this being the best seven lurlongs worked over either track. Mombassa and Indomitable wore sent over the same ground in 1:33 and galloiied out the mile in 1:47-1. The stables throe two-year-olds. Our Hannah. Miss Knickerbocker and Our Nugget, were sent three furlongs in 37A. This stable so far is as fit as any at Benniiig or Piiulico and will be hard to boat at that track. Lakeland had Bob Kvans worked six furlongs in 1:17. Question Mark, which is ready to race, wont one mile hard held all the way in 1:4S. He is ready and as good as ho ever was and will Ik- very troublesome at Baltimore. Coat of Arms went six furlongs in 1:17. Leightou and McLaughlin wore on the slow side. At Slieepshead Bay there was a great deal of galloping going on, but little fast work was attempted. Maddons stable is lieing put in order for his horses, but. from talk around the Bay. he will send only a few to Sheopshead and a largo consignment to Belmont Park the latter part of next week. Matt Allen, who has been looking for a stable to move into, has made up his mind to s-liip to Bolinout Park. As that meeting is the first, ho does not think it wise to make two movements. His horses now are about the best-looking seen around the two track*, barring Celt nm* Mreette. John Hylanxls son line his stable all in readiness for his fathers return. It lieing whitewashed and wired. Hyland will bring on fourteen head. His intention is to ship about five to Baltimore. Ho is looked for early on Tuesday. Bob Davis took a run down to Simon Healevs stable to look over Master Robert and Red Robert. He was highly pleased with their appearance and remained around the stable looking tlie horses over for some time. His trainer. Andy Blakoley. will leave just as soon as he can got cars, which seem to be scarce iu California. The Lakeland. McLaughlin. Delisser and George Kraus strings will leave the Sheopshead Bay pad docks on Thursday next for Baltimore. All have secured stable room and as their horses are all gi od they seem happy at the prospect of getting to the races soon. These four stables should win races, as they are keyed up and have not lost any Hi sh to speak of while in strict training. James Kowe kept tho James R. Koeno horses on the yearling track at Shecpshead Bay and hi did not ask anything of them beyond gtxMl stout gallop ing exorcise. All are going along as well as any trainer could wish and when Rowe wants any one of them for the races he will be ready. W. 11. All three had Unusual long, hard gallops, and at the end Imitator was sent along for six furlongs iu l:l.i. The other two ■topped the same distance just half a second slower. Hynes also hid his Broomstick — Ethel Lee filly under saddle and she went along for three furlongs in 38. Con Leighton is beginning to send his two-year olds along for speed now and they take so kindly to the exercise that they will doubtless be well worth while wln-ii tin- racing season begins. Langenbeck and Cutbbei-i went three furlongs in 3T. Aston Ke and Hildas Sister stepped the same distance ill 38. Don Creole, which came so close to winning a Metropolitan Handicap, will be ready again for the same race this year, judging from the manner in Which he has been working. Personal and Arondack. went along with Great Jubilee. Tlie trio are well advanced and after a limbering-up gallop they turned a good six furlongs iu 1:1s,!. with plenty in reserve at the finish. Campaigner wont a mile in 1:47 and old Lally covered the same distance ill l:.Vi. He never was a work horse and when as tit as races can make him. will seldom show any more speed in the training hours. Brookline. Fauutleroy and Dross Parade IL. tin- two-year-old string, were sent along for a half in ~ Z. a r-ally good move. Julius Bauer had Mon Rove and Marie Rue out together.
