ANOTHER ENGLISH SUCCESS FOR WHITNEY. London. Eng., April 27. — The principal race of the first day of the Neyvuiarker first spring meeting, the Hastings Plate at a mile and a quarter for three-year-olds with .VHI sovereigns added, was won by J. F. Hallicks brown colt. Don Juan, bv Uived Oirc — Donna Forturra. with W. Asters chestnut colt. Mirador. by Marco Semitone, second and I.. Bras seys bay colt. BaUleaxe. by William the Third -Britannia, third. The l-irsr Spring Two Year-Old Stakes of ten sovereigns each, with 20o sovereigns added, yvas won bv K. Mills bay coir. Avalanche II.. by French Fox — Ziiiu. F. Bassets bay colt. Fast Pool, by lager — Bsatern Prize, was second, arid W. Raphaels chestnut illy. La Ornsst ttr, by Cyllem — Cinriez. finished third. The American horses. Oversight and Truckee. were among the twelve unplaced. A selling plate for all ages of 111" sovereigns was won bv H. P. Whitneys Iwo-vear-old brown gelding by Irish Lad or Ballyhoo Bey— gueen of Hearts, with Master Robin second and Kilcarby third. A maiden two-year-old race of lot sovereigns at a half mile had twenty-four starters, among which A. Belmonts Burgman ran unplaced. A. Sledalls chestnut cult by Collar — Murgis winning, with Lord Villiers chestnut filly. Post Horn, by ialloping Lad Belgravia. second and ■meat Dresdens chestnut filly. Entree, by Isinglass — C.ilaui inc third.
