George Hendries colt, for the Derby, furnished followers of the fortunes of the turf with plenty of gossip yesterday. All recalled the good form of this colt as a two year-old. and it was plain to everyone that if the horse has trained on be is Worthy of lieing classed as a possibility. Judge Charles F. Price has returned from San Antonio, where he had lieen presiding iu the stand at the race meeting. Tire original intention was to conduct rhe Sarr Antonio meeting until after Mav 1. but a decision to split dates with Houston altered this plan. Judge Price says the San Antonio meet ing attracted good-sized crowds and afforded satis factory sport. ltacing is regaining its popularity In Texas and it is expected to thrive there once more. Judge Price yvill preside at Churchill IVowns. as usual. He is anxious for a busy season ami feels splendid after many weeks recreation in the south. In the opinion of the judge the spring meeting at the Downs will be the heM held there in more than a generation. Teddy Robinson, who formerly rode for Colonel W. i:. Applegale. has quit the saddle for the forge. He received the call when he rode here last spring. Then he was taking on weight rapidly. Now he weighs InO pound.-, and his rrinerv-pound brother, who is here to ride Deuce and others in Mrs. A. Abadies siring, says Teddy yvill never more be seen iu the saddle. He resides irr Cleveland, is married and is the father of one child. Jim i.iiltiii has arrived from California with his crack long distance horse. Ctfar. Czar won two corking handicaps on the coasr and he will be in front around here. Wayne .loplin with three horses. Mike Daly with two and Mike Keardon with two. rolled iu from Santa Anita, all in good condition
