HOUSTON RACING WELL PATRONIZED. Houston. Tex.. April 27. — Another large crowd Journeyed to rhe Fair Grounds this afternoon and while it did not equal rhe record-breaking attendance of yesier-day, lr made up in enthusiasm what it lacked in numbers. An ordinary card of six selling races was the afternoons offering, but the fields were evenly matched and some excellent contests reunited. The opening race went to ssMi F.. iproted at 12 to 1 irr the betting, after a bitter snuggle with Dr. Dovvnie. the heavily backed favorite. Sainvoke was the choice in the second and won iu easy fashion, holding her opponents safe from start to finish. lioldway and QohUeM furnished an excellent struggle irr the third race, the former prevailing at the eird of a fast closing finish. Pops had lirtle difficulty in disposing of a fair band of Ihree-year-olds iu the fourth race, outclassing his opponents and winning iu an impressive manner. The fifth went to i;ee Whiz anil L. M. F.ckerr. another long shot, captured the last race. Hancock, the favorite, running a disappointing race. Judge Joseph A. Murphy today reinstated jockey Danny Mortality, wham he had ruled off the turf last Novemliei- for a Irad-looking ride on the horse John MoBride. The horse ran some very in-and-out races after Moriarity had been set dwwa and this, coupled with the length of time he had been on the ground, induced Mr. Murphy to look favorably upon bis application for reinstatement.
