•-. KEENE MAIDEN. HENLEY. IS FAST. New York. April 28. — Trainer James Rowe has a Keeiie maiden in his care this spring that will have to lie kept in mind. He is Henley, a three-year old son of Kingston Minlcake. and the way he has been going along is at least impressive. While Rowe has been going along slowly and care fully with the horses, he was disposed to jierinit them to step along Monday. This Henley galloped tlie last sj furlongs of a mile work in 1:2-. while some watches Laugh i him the distance in 1:48. The work was over the yearling track and was a move that attracted attention. Celt. Maskettc and Affliction were all sent along for the same distance in from 1 :r.2 to 1:54. Hilarious had I ltinius for a coiuiiauioii in his mile exer eise ami the pair worked in 1 :55. very easily. The two-year olds in the stable were only cantered along for noartera and three furlongs. J. J. llvlanil. who had a successful season in California, had his horses out at the Bay for the first time since their return. He only asked them to work along lightlv. Those shown were Etherial. Lasata. Autocrat and San Vito. All of them went along for three furlongs in 45. They are looking well and could Ik- bought to the post on siiort notice. Etherial proved himself a good one last season and he promises to be an even better three year-old.
