SHEEPSHEAD BAY WORK IS CHECKED. New York. May 4.— Down at Sheepshead Bay Saturday ■ cold rati was followed by a heavy fog that made training I disagreeable task. A. G. P.lakeley was one of the first to show on the main track. The four-year-old Master Robert and the three-year-old maiden. Bed Robert, had been turned over to him by Simon Healey. who had them in his are all winter and they were logged along with the other horses. It was the first time that tiie Blakeley string iliat raced in California during the cold mouths were brought to the track. None of them showed auy evil effects froin the continuous campaigning and I hey will undoubtedly be seen under colors at Belmont Tark. Desirous, a remarkably fast filly, led a set. the others of which were Mary Davis. Erbet and Gatien Lass. They were all sent along for a half in rP7. Cowen. Pills and Arasee moved along Ear the same distance in the same time. John Hyland was on hand with a half dozen, pontoon. Dan Vito and Monologue were together for ■ half -mile cantering exercise in from ."7 to SB. The other three were Etherial. Autocrat and I.asata. and they worked a half in a shade better than a two-minute gait. Etherial was sick during the winter, but he lias come back to good condition and is sure to be one of t lie useful three-year-olds of 1909. James Itowe had the Keene lot on the yearling track and the horses moved well. Celt and Maskette were companions in a half-mile work in Mi. Rowe had not intended that they should work so fast and he was waving the boys back all through the move. Hilarious ran his half in Bit. He has grown lata a magnificent three-year-old and is one that will have to be reckoned with in the three-year-old stakes of the season. His training suggests that he is intended for an early start at Belmont Park. Henlev did not appear to like the going, and he was driven out to cover a half in 51*. tltinius and Affliction went along together and their task was a half in 52. The two-year-olds in the stalde were sent along for halves in from ."4 to 50. Graaaaaere is one of the most impressive of the young division. The ..tilers are Sweep, Hibernica. Black Gnat. Flashing and Herdsman.
