NOTES OF THE TURF. The stable of R. L. Thomas, en route from California, is expected at Toronto this week. Last Saturday at the Woodbine track C. Millars Kings Plate candidate. She was a chestnut, foaled in 1885. by Isonomy — St. Marguerite. It is common gossip in the east that James R. Kcene is disappointed at the non-success of his horses in Eagland. The climax was reached, it is said, when Helmet was unplaced in a race in which lie was conceding only a small amount of weight to another American horse which in this country was not within twenty imunds of Helmet.
