BRILLIANT RACING AT BLUE BONNETS. Hanbridgc Makes New Track Record, and Fulford. from Same Stable, Equals Another. Montreal. One. Juno 8. — A splendid program furnished excellent sport at Blue Bonnets this afternoon. Tile card was the best offered since the meeting began and interesting contests resulted. Well-hacked horses won a majority of the event*. three of the winners being favorites. Besides the K indergartcn Stakes, there was provided as an additional attraction, a steeplechase handicap. William Garth ftarajfaahed the winner of the stake feature in his sturdy colt. Busy, which again vanquished the apttdy Flying rJanrieNI in handy fashion after a brilliant stretch run. Busy shows more Improvement with racing than any other two-year-old In Canada. In his previous start he had defeated a classy band In the Tyro Stakes at W Hxlbine. Both horses allowed brilliant form, the former establishing a new track record for six furlongs by running tlie distance in 1:12?. while Fulford equaled the Blue Bonnets mark for sevei furlongs when he ran the distance in 1 :20*. Both Fulford anil llanhriilge made runaway affairs of their respective races, and Ilerhert. the regular Stable jockev. was up in each instance. One of the greatest disappointments of the afternoon was Merman, which was heavily hacked to win the second race. In bis private trials Merman had outworked Busy. When the break came the colt reared back from the barrier and then proceeded to run out. It was the first time that he had ever gone to the post and he probably needs schooling at the harru r. Word was received from Sain Hildreth that he would ship Montgomery to Blue Bonnets to tuliill a stake engagement on Saturday. While being schooled through the field at Blue Itoiineis this morning. Spy. a green jumper in Bart-lett Mcl.eiuians stable, fell and broke his neck. Bed River, which was kicki-d while at the post on 8a tarda y last and showed lameness for a collide of days, was on the track tills morning and galloped soundly. My Grace, the tamper, is down with fever and probably will pot start at the meeting. The starters in the Kindergarten Stakes this afternoon all carried four Boaads more than the weights sent .lit in the entries. When entries were made to the stake it was with the understanding that the Jockey Club scale would prevail. Since then the association adopted the scale of the recently orgau-lacd Canadian Racing Associations, whh b call- fir less than the Jockey Club scales. Hence the error in the entries. J. Iteid was engaged to ride both Merman and Maziihia. but as he bad not as yet received his apprentice license from the Canadian Racing Associations, he could not accept the mounts. E. Haynes was substituted Busy ran his middle quarter in todays race in 23 ».. Reginald ran away half a mile going to the post and Calmer bad great difficulty in pulling him up. This did not help his chances. II. M. Mason, trainer for W. OB. Macdonough. was a visitor at the course this afternoon. Mason formerly trained for J. G. Folbtnsbee and owns an interest in a couple of horses that William Cahill is campaigning on the Canadian circuit.
