NOTES OF THE TURF. Rio tlrande Is to be trained for races with gen tie n riders. He has developed Into a bleeder. Max Ilirseh is taking plenty of time in getting Bpooaer ready and will not start him until the Sh-epshead Day meeting. Bis! is accredited with being a highly tried two-year old in the stable of John B. Madden. He is a chestnut colt, by Handspring— Musette. Jimmy Dupce. the sleeplechase jockey, who lost out with William Carlh at Toronto, has turned up .il llrayesind and is looking for mounts as a free hmee. P. S. P. Randolphs Black Oak is on the shelf. He has not appeared for work at Qraveeead of late. and there are rumors that one of his tendons has weakened. Commenting on his sale of Tom Havward to Nn- ceat Bros, for ,300. n. ;. BedweH says thai .ill of his horses are for sale at any time a purchaser looms mi with the cash and is willing to pay a fair price. Harry Rites has arrived at C.ravesend with a string of nine horses that raced at Jamestown, in eluding Zethus. Critic and Miss Cateshv. Heart Flippen has also reached llravesend with a stable of fifteen horses. Wintergreen. injured at Louisville during the running of the Latonia Derby Preliminary, is in active training at Latoaia again. He is going along satisfactorily and will be ready to face the barrier once more within a few weeks. Peter Ouinee. a sprinter that ft C. Hildreth BC haired at James R. K. •cues weeding out sale last fall, pulled np lame after a recent workout at Shoopshoa.l Bay. The horse developed similar trouble in California, and Hildreth was unable to get him to the post all winter. Ogden Bishop, a brother of Francis C. Bishop, las at Herman B. Dnryeas new stml in Frame a three month-old suckling by Adam, out of Flirt ineer. This youngster is a sturdy colt of line bone and substance, and is a half-brother U Bpooaer. Mr. Bishop calls his Adam colt Exile, probably to mark his expatriated state. Most of the GraseaetSd stalls are occupied now. and the old course presents a busy appearance of mornings. If the attendance at the track of afternoons continues lo improve and the cistern managers agree to have four or five days racing each week. instead of only three, it wil not lie a great While until the Sheepshead Bay stables are filled as well. Frank Jardner has given up the idea of attempting to transfer ills Kinley Mack colt. Statesman, t.. New York from Baltimore. Statesman has not sufficiently recovered from the injury he sustained when lie fell in the Preakness Stakes to stand the trip to Sheepsliead Bay. Statesman is doing well, but Pardee r does not consider it safe to take the piaster cast from his injured leg. Gardner will permit Statesman to remain tpiietly in his present quarters at Baltimore until fall in Hie hope thai a long res: may restore him siifliciently lo make training liiin again possible.
