JOCKEY DON0HUE RETURNS FROM FRANCE. New York. June 10. Steeplechase jockey Tim Dono hue. who rode WaterSpeed at Gravesend Tuesday, had just disembarked on his return from France, whither be w.-nr some two months ago lo pilot the Jumpers Howard Irf-wis. Jr.. is campaigning at Auteuil for Joseph E. WIdener of -Philadelphia. Donohnc had a streak of tough luck ill France. He fell shortly after arriving then and broke a shoulder and three ribs, which accident laid him up three weeks. He was hardlv out of the hospital before he had another bump that broke his collarbone. Donobue is not yet at his best, but he Is mending steadily and he expects to keep on riding. In spite of his hard luck. Donobue likes steoplechasing in France. He says that France has the greatest cross-country sport in the world. Donobue does not expect much from a majority of the American chasers in France just now. because he does not believe the game suits them. But he agrees with Howard Lewis. Jr.. that Stokes ami Bast River are all right and predicts that they will continue to hold their own.
