Cloisteress was slightly Interfered with by John Marrs at the start, but quickly recovered, then tired in an effort to get to the leader. John Mam acted badly at the j ost and was taken to the outside and went very wide when entering the homestretch. Hands Around ran well. Hoyle finished fast. The winner was entered for 00: no bid. Chief Hayes showed his true form today, went right to the front and set a dazzling pace and his rider look no chances in the stretch and went to the whip at the eighth post when Stanley Fay challenged. The latter made a game effort after entering the homestretch and came again in the last fifty yards. Light Wool finished well, but could not keep up. Purslane quit after going a good five furlongs. Reginald showed a great flight of speed, but bolted out of the course at the eighteenth jump, was taken back, but lost his rider in taking the jump, then was :t:lit, remounted and finally finished. Wuerzburger lost his rider at the fourth jump, but was remounted Md finished. Touchwood lost his rider at the second jump and Expansion his at the sixth. Etta May left the barrier with a rush and showed the most early med, but tired finally. Ladv Bass and Polly Maddis were very green at the post. Li-idinoore broke from the extreme outside and was not hurried until rounding the far turn, where he went tn the front with a rush and had a long lead when straightened out in the homestretch, but had to be ridden out to stall off County Clerk. The Utter was caught in a jam on the first turn, but closed a big pap and finished fast and gamely. Henry o. closed a gap and ran a good race, but faltered in the final strides.
