GOOD RACING CAREER OF SENORITA. Of all the good horses the late Cnptain Samuel S. Brown owned iu the course of his long connection with the turf the one that was closest in his affections was the stately mare. Senorita. that died a few ihiys ago. In proof of this, when he concluded to embark In breeding thoroughbreds and lniught a blip grass farm near Lexington, he named It Senorita Farm. That his favorite never produced a liigli-i«lMi son or daughter was one of his greatest disap-IMintments. Senorita came out in an era of grt at race horses, being in her time in competition with such giants of the track as Salvator. Tenny. Raceland. Flrenze. Riley. Tristan. Stratlmicuth. Sir Dixon. Prince Royal, Tournament. Bums, Eon, Kingston. Los An geles and others of that superlative order. That she could hold her own and win often against such bigb-class opposition is proof positive of her own great excellence as a racer. A big bay daughter of ■ the great English miler. Prince Charlie, she began her .career as a two year old in 1SSS at Monmouth Park, by running second to Minion iu the Red Bank Stakes. A IMr days later she won the rich Criterion Stakes and was at once recognized as a coming star. Subsequently she ran fourth to Proctor Knott. Salvator and Galen lu the tiest Futurity. Then she ran second to Centaur in the Algeria Stakes, won the Willow Stakes, defeating Belmonts famous filly. She. ran second to Salvator in- the Maple Stakes aud went into winter quarters with a good reputation. As a three-year old Senorita won eight out of fif teen races and was but once unplaced, her successes being iu the following stake races: Monmouth Oaks. West Krai Hotel Stakes. New Kochellc Stakes. East River Stakes. Siren Stakes. Clinton Stakes. Feyton.i Stakes and Good Luck Handicap. This was her best year and one of brilliant achievements. As a four-year-old her racing was almost exclusively In handicaps, in which she was heavily weighted, and she only managed to win tune stake race, the Country Club Handicap, at Morris Park. In which, with 112 IMinuds up. she bent Tristan 113. Riqiorter 118. Los Angeles 112. Fitz James KM. and Joe Courtney 98. all crack race horses, at a mile and an eighth. As a tlve-jear-old she won seven races out of twenty-one starts, all in overnight handicaps and purses. When a six year-old Captain Brown campaigned her in the fall at Lexington. Louisville. Latonia and Nashville, more to give the home folks a view of his beloved mare than for any other reason. She was then retired to the stud with the following record: Year. Age. Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp.
