Kingship, from an inside slow start, steadily improved his position and got up in the last stride of a great Kt retch rush. Chickasaw, from a Hying start, set the pace nearly throughout, but succumbed in .the last stride of a cracking effort. Democrat had an inside bad start, but closed a big gap into a fast going and close up third. Grasmere broke and ran green, ltorlng out under a pull in tins first half, and quit in the closing drive. Scarus ran in forward pursuit for a half mile, but tired .finally and probably was short, ficarpia, away badly, trailed a bad last to the stretch, then, made up much ground under a bad ride, Fight-iiigioh ran forwardlv to the stretcli and quit. Console, luckily and forwardly placed in the early running, drew out decisively midway of tlx" stretch and was much tilts best. Campeon made the running easily by a wide gap for nearly seven furlongs and lasted long enough to be a badly tiring second. Eschau trailed far in the rear for over half, of the journey, then closed an immense gap in a fast finish. Nethermost, away slowly, improved his position steadily, but was carried very wide on the stretcli turn and just failed to get up for third place. Court Lady. Hatfooted at 1 lie start and shuttled back quickly, made up considerable ground at the end. Warden showed superior rpeed for seven furlongs, then tired and was palpably short. Rnxton ran in forward contention to the final sixteenth. Miss Crittenden ran in brief prominence. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Scratched S337G3Hauimerless. Besom outbroke and outpaced the others very easily for six furlongs, but tired badly In the closing drive. Jeanne dArc, from an inside slow start, ran info quick prominence, but was shut off repeatedly, then linislied a close third in a sensational stretcli sprint and is extra good. Chief Hayes ran in striking distance pursuit to the stretch turn, where he ran out and was practically eliminated. Gold Note, away poorly ami hopelessly outpaced for the lirst half, closed a sensational gap finally. Escutcheon, away poorlv. improved ills jioslfion. Royal Vane ran in nearest pursuit at a terriiic pace to the stretch, then tired and was palpably short. The winner, entered for ,500, was bid up to ,500 by 0. Greenvale closed an early gap and loomed up menacingly in the stretch, but quit badly linally and ran a poor race. Pclleview had a slow start and was Interfered Will on the first turn, then raced from last to Hirst place in the middle half mile and then just lasted long enough to win from Zipangos belated challengei The latter, luckily placed in the early running, was surrounded and shullled back on the stretch turn! and could never quite get up in a whirlwind stretcli challenge and was best. Rio Grande ran forwardiy and persistently throughout and is in his best form. Miss Catcsby, Hatfooted at the start, lost much ground in the early running and finished fast. Killochan outbroke and outpaced the others for six furlongs, -but failed ro Slav. Okenlte was prominent to the stretch and is good. King of Bashan, away poorly, ran into quick forward pursuit for seven furlongs and quit badly. The winner, entered for 00, was bid up to by J. S. Ward and bought in. Yama, from a Hying start, ran in forward pursuit of the pacemakers, but was carried wide on the stretch turn, then just failed to get up in a belated stretch challenge. Maximum, from a slow start, was shuttled back and closed an immense gap in tlie last half in a cracking effort. Patsy ran in nearest pursuit early and drew out like the winner on the stretch turn, but went very wide and could never get up again. Clockwork, outpaced for the first quarter, steadily Improved his position. Rolando was prominent for six furlongs and retired. Gold Dust, from a Hying start, made the pace to the far turn, then tired and dropped to the rear In the stretch as if short. J. W. Fyre was gaining at the end.
