ACTIVITY AT JACKSONVILLE. St Louis. Mo., September 21. Joseph A. Murphy has received a letter from II. I. Drown of Jacksonville, Fla.. in which he says that lie is besieged witli letters from horsemen concerning the winter meeting which opens there on Thanksgiving day. Air. Drown is at work on the stake list, which will In- announced In a few days. Ho has complettd r:!n new stalls and is busily at work on the new grand stand, which will be a reproduction of the City Park stand, except that it will be a wooden structure. .Mr. Murphy has taken a house for the winter tit Jacksonville and will leave about the middle of November. He goes to Hamilton next week to act as presiding steward. While in New Aork lie re-eelved ii wire asking him to preside at Vancouver, bill the dates coutliclcd with Hamilton and he Was obliged to decline the proposed appointment.
