ANOTHER FAVORABLE CANADIAN DECISION. Victoria. B. C, September -21. Following the recent decisions in the east. Chief Justice, Hunter of British Columbia lias handed down a ruling that betting at racj tracks in British Columbia is legal, provided the bookmakers have no fixed place of occupation. Bets can be made if the layers keep moving about, while payments can lie made at a fixed iHioth. The decision was rendered following an action arising out of the recent meeting held here. In view of an objection raised against betting at the forthcoming fair to be held here shortly, and the decision of the directors that belting shall be allowed, the decision lias created widespread Interest In Victoria, as well as at Vancouver, where a two-mouths meeting is now In progress.
