The Prospect Handicap is one of the longest established races for two-year-olds of the Brooklyn Jockey Clubs program and in its course of years has been contested by many of the most noted horses of American turf history. Connemara. its first winner, was a tremendously fast filly, as also was Geraldine, which defeated no less a celebrity than Emperor of Norfolk in its second running. The fact that such other stars of the track as Keclare, Russell, Yorkville Belle, Counter Tenor. Ben Brush. The Friar. Hamburg, Manuel, Waring. Beau Gallant and Oiseau are enrolled in its long list of winners is proof eloquent of the high esteem in which the event has always been held by owners. Last year Joe Madden, good sturdy colt, though he is, overraced himself in it when he won from such great flyers as Trance and Fitz- Herbert.
