MURPHYS CLAIM AGAINST LAT0NIA. Cincinnati. O.. September 27. Joseph A. Murphy was here yesterday en route from his home in St. Louis to Hamilton, where he is to serve as presiding steward. Concerning his claim against the Latouia Jockev Club. Judge Murphy had this to say: "At a conference last spring. J. It. Kespess was delegated bv Harvey Myers and J. L. Rhiiiock to secure mv services as associate judge aud racing secretary. Mr. Kespess wired me to meet lum at Louisville, and 1 did so. coming all the way from Houston for the purpose. 1 told him that I was engaged at Hamilton, and we reached an agreement for the year with the understanding that I was to "ct awav from Hamilton. Mr. Myers has repudiated the agreement. Racing in general, and I.atonia m particular, are in trouble enough without being dragged into the courts. I have also felt that all racing troubles should lie adjusted by racing people, and I have therefore submitted my case to the Kentucky State Kaciug Commission with the request that the Latonia Jockey Club be compelled to remunerate me in full for the term of fail racing. The I.atonia .Tockev Club races under the rules of the foinmission. it admits its authority in everything but the method or betting. If the commission decides against me the matter will end."
