STAKE FOR JOHN W. SCHORR TENNESSEE TURFMANS PLANUTESS IS WINNER OF THE DETROIT SELLING STAKES. Flanudes Filly Beats Capsize and Cismont in a Stirring Stretch Duel — Outcome of Steeplechase Race Bad for Jockey Kelleher. Detroit, Mich., July 10.— John W. Schorr furnished the winner of todays feature r:n-i :it Windsor in his proarinkag Ptaaadee flUy. pianutcss. which heat ■ good Im ml ol juveniles in the Detroit Stakes at five-eighths of a mile. Pianutcss was ridden hy Mr. Schorrs apprentice rider. Pease, made most of her own pact ami won from Capsize in a stirring streteli drive. A Beck separated the first two at the linish. with Cisinoiit. the tliird horse, only halt a length away. The race had selling eomlitions. and a run-Uji was expected, hut when the judges called for hids mine materialized. The performance of Dr. Heard, favorite in the I teeiilechasi-. proved the undoing of jockey Pat Kelleher. Dr. Heard was a recedlag favorite, vvliile a remarkably active play deee loped on osagt . a Virginia jumper owned hy Court Jamlt II. Smith. If theft was any Job on to "shoo in" Osage, McClain upset calculations h rushing Dr. Koch into a long lead on the second turn of the liehl and leading Wt a goodly margin the remainder of the trip. Med Henderson, who hail the mount on Osage, certainly lode a eeaMeat race. He permitted Osage to drop completely out of contention, and at one stage between the calls Osage was last of his held. When the race was practically over Osage moved up with a rush, hut the gap he was asked to close was too great and the result was that Dr. Koch won with something to spare hy four lengths. Kelleher. on Dr. Heard, was never prominent until the linish. when he. too. closed with a belated rush. The officials were satisfied that Kellehers efforts were not such that a rider puts up when he is anxious to win. and after the races a ruling came from the judges which hroitght suspension to Kelleher. His chances of riding again soon are slim. It was not a profitable day for the followers of favorites, only one Choice finishing in front. This was Ellin Beau, which cantered . home an easy winner in ttie opening da h. Those who were fortunate enough to land on the ones profited handsomely, as most of the winners were at remunerative odds. William Shield* took a purse with his speedy Merman, which made a runaway affair of the mile ami a quarter race. The tinislies in a majority of the races were close enough to he interesting and the largo crowd preecnt thoroughly enjoyed the sport. Judge Monek. of Hamilton, together with lresi-dein Joseph E. Seagram and Secretary William P. Eraser of the Ontario Jockey Cluh. came on today to attend a meeting of the Canadian Rjieing Associations, which was held in the cluhhousv at Windsor after the laces.
