NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockev George Mountain lias joined the J. T. Ireland stable at Saratoga. W. 1*. Fraser. seeretary of the Ontario Jock" C lub, was a visitor at Saratoga ou openiug day. Firestones misbehavior at the post in the Saratoga Handicap led to his being placed on the schooling list. William Walkers Oreagna bowed a tendon in his last race at Voiikers and lias been turned over to Frank Herald. Thomas Chiles good three year old, Dalhousie, has been shipped to the Clyde Cam in Maryland, having spread a foot in his last start in Canada. •lames E. CalTnevs Alfred Noble, which went wrong in a raee at Sheepshead Hay last month, will be converted into a jumper under the direction of Edward Peters. Mr. Deters is meeting with success in an effort to train T. S. Martin, which good jumper broke down last year. Kichard Crokers great marc. Rhodora. winner of the English One Thousand iuineas of 190S, was sent to the stud last year but proved to be barren. She is being trained la Ireland and will, if she stands the work, be raced again. A long rest lias made Rhodora unite sound. "Butch" Fisher will train the stable of George M. Van Gorderi at Oakland during the coming season. Fished handled Wheel of Fortune and other good racers and is one of the best-known trainers in California. He will take up the Van Oonlen string at the farm at Walnut Creek in about ■ week. There are seven in the stable, including lour two-year-olds, li«s Roberta and two yearlings. Roliort Hurst, Welakao, Eddie Mott and an Orsini colt are twa-year-olds. Hat yearlings are a brother to Miss Hob cits and a Ullv by General Roberts— Motto, formerly a well-known racer on California tracks.
