NOTES OF THE TURF. John Shannon, a well-known Kentucky- bookmaker, IS ill at an El Paso hospital. The practice of running hurdle racers and steeplechasers in blinkers is increasing in England. It is not approved on this side of the Atlantic. Ilritish Columbia breeding establishments have recently been enriched by the addition of the thoroughbred stallions Green Goods and Ravelstou. Trainer Ed AVhyte was recently compelled to destroy the promising three-year-oltl, The General Armstrong, in California. Hu broke down at Oakland last season.
