CHARLIE ROTHSCHILD WINS AT 100 TO 1. El Paso, Tex.. January 14. A crowd of at least 4,000 persons, comfortably filling the grandstand, attended the races at Juarez today. The Puehla Stakes, the second two-year-old stake of the year, attracted a fair-sized field and was the chief attraction. Upright, the slashing looking colt from the stable of G. M. Odom. was returned the winner, running the distance in the fast time of 341 and equaling the record made by Princess Industry last season. Three declined the issue, in consequence of which the winner was made a prohibitive favorite and justified the opinion of his backers by winning well within himself. The result of the second race was a decided surprise to the regulars as well as his owner, the winner turning up in Charlie Rothschild, owned locally, at the long odds of 100 to 1. This was the longest-priced winner in the history of the Jockey Club Juarez. In this locality Charlie Rothschild is known as a trick horse, having been exhibited in museums at different times and his racing here lias always been regarded as more or less of a joke. High Culture, in tho third race, was purchased at private sale this morning by J. Randolph and ran for that owner.
