BED WELL MAY OBTAIN REINSTATEMENT. Lexington, Ky., January 14. Vice-chairman Milton Young, at the request of chairman E. F. Clav, who is wintering at Eustice, Fla., today instructed Secretary W. E. Bidwell to issue a call for a meeting of the Kentucky State Racing Commission to be held here Tuesday, January 24. The alotment of spring dates for racing at Lexington. Louisville and Latonia will probably be made. It is expected also that tho proposed rules and amendments to rules which have been pending for several months will be disposed of. The case of II. G. Bedwell. who. with his big stable of horses was ruled off at Latonia because of the alleged "doping" of Nadzu on July 4, will, it is said, be re-opened and there appears to be a likelihood that some action favorable to Mr. Bedwell will he taken. Mr. Bedwell is in California with his horses. He has lately written to Judge Charles F. Price, declaring himself "down and out" and in distress, save for the kindness of his friends. Judge Price lias written to George J. Long, expressing sympathy for Mr. Bedwell and suggesting that if the commission can see its way clear to do so, clemency might be extended. Mr. Long has written Colonel Clay, inclosing the letters of Messrs. Bedwell and Price, and Colonel Clay has Indicated in a letter to Colonel Young that he favors action that will give Mr. Bedwell at least an opportunity to sell his horses. Colonel Young has held that rule 209 stands in tho way of any action in this case other than re-instatement and he is disposed to re-instate Mr. Bedwell and his horses rather than take a devious route entailing amendments and ei advocations.
