NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey Bell, who was seriously injured while riding at Moncrief during the holidays, is improving. Hugh Penny, his manager, says Bell will be ready to accept mounts in fifteen days. Penny has engaged M. Olsen, formerly an apprentice rider in James McLaughlins stable, to ride his horses meanwhile. Bob Levy, manager of the Jamestown race track, is expected at Jacksonville. His course will open the eastern circuit under the jurisdiction of the Jockey Club April 5. His advance agent at Moncrief says the overnight races and stakes this spring will exceed in value the offerings of last fall.
