PAY STREAK TAKES OAKLAND FEATURE. San Francisco. Cal.. January 10. The Chartreuse Handicap, the feature of todays card at Oakland, resulted in victory for Pay Streak, well handled bv jockev Garner. Thistle Belle set the pace, but Pav Streak, closing fast under punishment, caught her in the final 100 yards and won in a drive. Fine weather favored the sport and the attendance was large. The track was deep and muddy. Zimri graduated from the maiden ranks in the two-vear-old race, beating Ma Mie a neck. Jim Ctifferata. with light weight up, proved a surprise in the mile awl a quarter race by winning from Endymion II.. the favorite. Souia took the fifth from Fancuil Hall, on which Taplin lost considerable ground. II. II. Mason has bought Special Delivery. He has resigned as trainer for the Denver Stable, and Earl LinncII will train Setback and Anne McGee. Jockey J. Mclntyre again injured bis back and was unable to ride Tony Faust in the last race. The four stakes for two-year-olds to bo run at Oakland filled in a satisfactory manner. The main event is the Gebhardt Handicap, at five furlongs, to be run Saturday. March IS. Oakland, Anion and other promising youngsters are among those entered.
