STEPFATHER TO RACE NO MORE. Tampa, Kin., . January 10. When Stepfather landed the opening race this afternoon, it marked the termination of his career as an active racer, for under the conditions of the race, ho reverted to the association and will serve, as the prize for the winning rider in Fridays race for gentlemen riders. He also becomes debarred from track racing except on special occasions. This is done with the intent of ridding the turf of horses useless as racers, but suitable for other purposes, including hunting. The bookmakers won handsomely during the afternoon, Cherokee Hose being the only successful favorite. W. O. Joplin will ship Parkview. Elizabethan and Tamar to Jacksonville tomorrow to be raced there during the rest of the season. There was a big falling off in attendance today, and only three books were in operation. Jockeys T. Koemer, Davenport, Downey. C. Jackson and A. Wrispen were suspended for three days by the starter.
