The latter finished gamely under punishment and was wearing the winner down, but was in close quarters at the end.- HIGH BROW ; met witli no mishaps, broke well and ran well up all the way. DREXEL HILL ran well and met with ; interference on the stretch turn. GOLD MINE was carried wide all of the first furlong and ran a good ; rsee. MANHEIMER trailed the leaders far back until after entering the homestretch, then closed up with a rush and drew away to win in a canter. SMOKER, always a prominent contender, made a game effort after entering the homestretch, but tired in the last sixteenth and pulled up lame. MARIE HYDE finished fast and resolutely on the inside. MALITINE quit when challenged after setting a fast pace to the stretch. STAF-IORD showed early speed, but quit badly and did not run to his true form. Q A CfA THIRD RACE 7-8 Mile. ALDRIAN was badly outpaced in the early running, but gradually improved his position while rounding the far turn and, coming fast through the stretch, got up to win in the final stride. DR. DUENNER set a fast : pace and showed much the most speed, but was much used in racing COUNTY TAX into defeat and tired I in the final strides of a game finish. LIGHT WOOL ran prominently and moved up menacingly at the last furlong post, but tired finallv under punishment. COUNTY TAX quit after racing closely with DR. DUENNER to the stretch. BOB R. . closed a big gap and was a fast gaining third. LAHORE was cut off on the first turn, but lacked speed J and appears to be training light. JOE KENYON finished with a rush. PRINCELTKE soon fan into third d place, but could never improve his position afterwards. Allen was of no help to QUEEN MARGUERITE. MERMAN quit badly.
