ENGLISH STEEPLECHASE JOCKEY DEAD. Arthur Birch, an English steeplechase jockey, is dead from injuries received when Black Ivory fell with him at Gatwick in December, 1000. His spine was hurt, and the unfortunate young man was paralyzed. He had ridden in more than a thousand races under National Hunt rules, and was on the New Zealand horse. Moifoa. when he won the Liverpool Grand National in 1001.
