JOCKEY IS PRESENTED WITH MEDAL. Tampa, Fla., February 24. Continued cold weather served to keep many from the West Tampa track this afternoon. The crowd, however; was of fair proportions. The race for amateur riders which featured the. program was won by llaymarket, on which Mr. Laugtord had the mount. John 5arner twas second ami Bertmont third. Dick Rose, the winner of last Mondays Hunts Purse, was presented to the successful rider. After the finish of the fifth race all the jockeys were called to the judges stand to participate in the presentation of a gold medal to jockey Dreyer for his effort in saving jockey Paul from injury during the running of a race on Friday last. Jockey .To;t was suspended three days by the starter for disobedience at the post. John Haebnieister learned today of the dates assigned to Latonia and expressed pleasure at being able to open his meeting on Saturday, as it will afford the opportunity to many to witness the running of the Derby on a half holiday. Mr. Haebnieister leaves for Jacksonville tomorrow and will remain there until March 3. looking after the entries for stakes at Latonia and Louisville. Jockey Dreyer lodged complaint with the judges that jockey Jensen had struck his mount, Lady Maxim, across the bead on several occasions. Lady Maxim was much the best in the last race in which she ran today, but was away poorly.
