NOTES OF THE TURF. The attorney-general of West Virginia is quoted as taking the view that the anti-ioolrooni bill recently passed by the West Virginia legislature does not legalize betting withiu racing enclosures. Willie Shaw has returned to New York from Oklahoma, where he spent ten days visiting Ills folk. Shaw will leave for Austria in a fortnight. He is under contract this season to Prince Hehen-lohe. who maintains one of the strougest racing stables in Europe. Willie Brennau. for several seasons foreman for Samuel C. Ilildretli. Is dissatisfied with his arrangements in Great. Britain and will go to France. Horses are trained on .different lines in England than in this country and Kreuuun. whose tuition had been thoroughly American, decided he could not s"tiapt himself to the methods in vogue in the stable of Itichard Dawson, to enter whose employ he went abroad last fall.
