MONCRIEF ENCLOSURE IS THRONGED. Special Program Attracts to Jacksonville Course Biggest Crowd in History of Florida Racing, Jacksonville, Fla., March. 21. This was Ladies day at Moncrief Park. It was the last of these occasions for this season and a tremendous gathering turned out. It was by far the largest crowd that ever attended the races in Florida and standing room was at a premium. The management provided besides the regular program of six races- two special attractions, one a mile dasb-for mules and another a novelty race in Which two foot runners, two thoroughbreds and two automobiles took part. One of the latter won. and afterwards circled the course in an exhibition mile in 53 J. .The rrinnagemerit was forced to take out a spucial license or this race. A majority of the races -.furnished stirring finishes. The only successful favorite was Rarriey Igoe, winner of the maiden race first 011 the card. The biggest disappointment of the afternoon was furnished by Albert Simons Van Den",-a 1 to 2 favorites in the handicap. The winner of this race- turned up in Italcigh P. 1., a recent arrival from California. Sam Louis has bought Colonel Ashmeade from W. G. King-Dodds and A. W. Foulk has purchased Daniel oGrady from Hugh Penny. John Powers, who purchased the good racer Donald Macdonahl a few weeks ago,, tonight left for Gravesend, where he went to take up several horses that have been turned out at John Hyiies farm in Connecticut all winter. Doriald Macdonahl will be taken north by Dave Woodford. He will, be rested for a couple of mouths. A. 0. Weston has arranged to leave for Norfolk oil Thursday. .Tamos Fitzsimmons and A. J. Golds-borough will ship their stables to -the Jamestown Jockey Club track the same day. Jack Phillips, who has lieen racing some two-year-olds at Tampa, arrived, from .that place this morning. Mr. Phillips won nine races, wjth the four youngsters he took to the WCst Florida track and he returned here in search of more material. Jockey Dave NIcol left for Mexico City tonight to ride for .George W. Crump. NJeols contract calls for 00 a month and he Is to do 122 pounds. C.-J.
