JUAREZ TO CLOSE TODAY RUNNING OF DERBY WILL BRING MEXICAN MEETING TO AN END. Round the World Rules Topheavy Favorite and Probably Will Bo Opposed Only by Undo Ben, Bettic Sue and Jim Bascy. El Paso, Tex., April 1. For the last Ladies Day and Saturday of the season one of the largest crowds of the meeting attended the races at Juarez today. A well-balanced card was provided by the management, the feature of which was a handicap at seven-eighths of a mile. Quartermaster, one of thu developments of the season, was accorded the post of honor in the betting, although closely pressed by tho California star, Jim Basey, many pinning their faitli to the Sehroiber colt on account of his having the benefit of Moleswortli in the saddle. The raco proved one of the best contests seen recently and resulted in a hair-raising finish, Mblcsworth outriding MeGeo in the final strides. Rosey Posey ran a most remarkable race in winning the opening dash, the saddle girth breaking an 1 eighth from the finish. Her rider was clinging to her mane as she ran past the judges. Harry Morrissey acted as starter today in the absence of Mars Cassidy, who left for Jamestown last night; His work was of the gilt-edged order during the afternoon. Tho second running of the Juarez Derby is scheduled for tomorrow and probably will have a field of but four starters Round the World, Bettic Sue. Uncle Ben and Jim Basey although others are named to go. Tho Yanke filly will undoubtedly bo a topheavy favorite and will be ridden by jockey McGee. T. Rice will bo in tho saddle on Bettic Sue. .Molesworth on Uncle Ben and J. Glass on Jim Basey. Sam Kline, general manager of tlie Albuquerque Racing Association, announces that a meeting will bo given there leginning April 15 and continuing for fifteen days, with a possible extension.
