WESTERN RACING VENTURE DETAILS CONCERNING PROPOSED NEW RACE TRACK NEAR SPOKANE. Association Organized Under Laws of Idaho to Build Regulation Mile Course Close to Washington-Idaho Boundary Line. Spokane, Wash., April T,. The Coenr dAlene Fair and Racing Association, recently organized to build 11 race track just across the state line in Idaho, is composed of Spokane and Coeur dAlene capitalists. The officers of the association include M. D. Wrighr, president; W. E. Sanders, vice-president; A. V. Chamberlain, secretary-treasurer. All three of these aro prominent residents of Coeur dAlene. Mr. Chamberlain fills a similar position with the American Bank and Trust Company. E. S. Shelton of Spokane is general manager of the association. The plans call for an investment of 5,000, a regulation mile track, with grandstand, clubhouse, paddock, electric lighted stables, etc. The association proposes to give a meeting of forty or more days racing, beginning in mid-August, the opening date being not yet definitely decided. It is planned to give no purse of less value than 00, with two stakes of ,000 value weekly. The track will be distant seven miles from Coeur dAlene, with 10,000 population, and twenty-two miles from Spokane, a city of 125.000. The transportation facilities will he excellent. Express trains will make the trip from the track to the center of this city in thirty-two minutes. A four days fair will be run in connection with the meeting. An open betting ring will be maintained. W. W. Finn is superintending1 the work preliminary to the construction of the track.
