KENTUCKY STABraS-ARE "FILLING. Additional Arrivals -at Churchill Downs From Florida Dorante Goes to thor Stud. Louisville. Ky.. April 10. John W. Schorrs stable of twenty-six horses has arrived from Jacksonville and is quartered at Douglas Park. Included aTo Ayimer, Star Charter, Edda. Tom Hayward. Fulfill, John Pendergrast. Casque, John Rcardon. Planutess,. Barine. Skirmidge, Wander, Senator Sparks, Terrible Dan. Tennessee and Terrible Boy. The stable jockey J. Wilson, also arrived. Mr. Schorr is at Hot Springs. Ark. Another arrival from Jacksonville is A. L. Kirby. He has Hughes, Heine, Mineo Jiuiinie, Uncle Jimmie Gray. Tllford Thomas and Orbicular. Mr. Kirbys rider is J. Loftus. who Is under contract to J. B. Rcspcss. Mr. Kirby lias second call uiou his services. James Gass. of Fighting Bob fame, came in from Florida witli Syzygy and 0. Johnson, of Uniontown, Ky., came in the same car with the useful plater, Shapdale. J. J. Flannigait is another arrival from Florida. He lias Kittle K.. a Tilly of promise and two good youngsters by Woolsthorpe and Sempronius. Others from Florida include James Riley, Frank Gering and W. E. Scott. Mr. Scott owns the selling plater Stoncman. Mr. Gering has several racers, including Beau Brummel and Ida May. Round the World, favorite for the Kentucky Derby, was cantered slowly today. She is in the pink of condition. Observant turfincn believe that siie can go the Derby route of one. mile and a quarter. She has as sfableniates here The Hague, Ara-gonese, Quartermaster and Wooltcx, a brother to the Kentucky Derby winner of last year, Donau. C. T. Patterson lias eight horses belonging to Applegate and Yanke at Lexington. These will be brought hen;. The speedy Gilpy was left at Dallas by W. G. Yanke, who sent Soon and Pretty Soon to California for a rest. This pair will be raced later at Vancouver. Gilpy will not run again until next winter at Juarez. The fastest work of two-year-olds so far this spring was reeled off today by Dilatory and Robert, owned by C. C. Van Meter. They worked three-eighths in 301, oing the lirst half in 50j. Dilatory is a chestnut colt b3- Sampson Tardy. Robert is a half-brother to Tophi ud, by Stalwart.- Mr. Van Meter has sold Topland to William K. Phillips, trainer and former partner of Fred Cook. Mr. Phillips lias Henry Walbauk in training at the Downs. This one worked a half mile in 40 and five-eighths in 1:02. Trainer Casey, formerly with Barney Schreibcr, has arrived from Oakland with Dutch Rock and a pair of two-year-olds. T. W. Flynn, of Chicago, sent from Oakland live horses, including. Starry Night, Lotta Creed and Homo Run. T. II. Stevens came from Oakland with Azo and the Derby eligible, Fez. The good plater, Braxton, owned by Lee Clark, was in the same shipment. Edward Jasper, acting secretary of the New Louisville Jockey Club, received word from A. B. Spreck-els that he would ship fifteen horses from Oakland to Churchill Downs in charge of trainer William Carroll. They will reach here April 20. With them will come the racing strings of I. Smith and James McManus. The Kentucky Derby candidates. Tay Pay and Star ORyan arc in the McManus stable. George M. Odom received a message from trainer Frank Taylor to the effect that he will ship from Sheepshead Bay to Churchill Downs May 1. . He will bring Housemaid, winner of the Breeders Futurity last spring at Lexington, Adams Express and Faunlleroy. With the Taylor shipment will come G. M. Odoms Nimbus, which has not bo9n raced since last summer. Mr. Odom today went to Lexington to bring here Firestone and Prince Gal, which he had turned out there since last fail. Henry McDaniel had R. L. Thomas Polls under the saddle today. He worked three-eighths at a two-minute gait. The sou of Voter appears to have recovered from injuries that he sustained at Juarez. McDaniel also gave King Broomstick and Nightdress strong work. Both are fast and are about ready. Nightdress belongs to George C. Bennett and is out of Dishabille. McDaniel thinks tho filly may develop into a useful racer. Raleigh Colston worked two of his Oddfellow two-year-olds, three-eighths in 371, the first quarter lcing covered in 21. They are ood lookers. Pat Dunnes Sebago went a slow mile, the first since his arrival from Juarez. He will soon be tit. Tom Brown, general utility man at Juarez, goes to Lexington to school two-year-olds. The barrier will be in position here ten days before the meeting opens. The Canadian trainer, John Walters, has reached Douglas Park. His good colt, Mclvor, which defeated Governor Gray in the Harold Stakes last summer at Latonia. looks lit. Mr. Walters, however, declared him out of the Kentucky Derby, as lie has formed the idea that Mclvor does not. fancy racing over a considerable distaucc of -ground.. II. R. Brandts cracks, Harrigan and Angclus, two stars of the recent Juarez meeting, are not in the best of condition owing to the long trip from Mexico. Mr. Brandt shipped here . several weeks ago and encountered a rough trip and inclement weather. Dorante. an old-time favorite, which was a star, as a three-year-old. In the season of the unbeaten Colin, King .latucs and Fair Play, will not race again. II. R. Brandt, who raced the horse at Juarez, lias shipped him to F. A. Forsythes Foun-tainbieu Stud in Mercer County, Ky., where lie wIH: be retired. Dorante is a son of Pessara Lady. Augusta, by Himyar, and is now six years old.; Mi-. Forsythe believes Dorante will become a great sire. W. II. Shelley left today for Lexington to enter upon his duties as secretary of the meeting, which, opens there April 20.
