RUSHING WORK ON UTAH TRACK. Salt Lake City, Utah., April 10. L. S. Long, a prominent race track builder, arrived here yesterday from Chicago and will start directing the construction, of the Lagoon track today. H. I. Wilson, general manager of the track, will place at Mr. Longs disposal 500 men and the necessary number of teams to push the work right along. Mr. Long is contident that by the scheduled time for the opening, May 30, everything will lie in readiness for the first call to the post. Numerous letters and telegrams are coming to Mr. Wilson from horsemen asking for stable accommodations. The replies, advise all to come at once, as arrangements have been made witli the fair grounds here to stable all horses until stalls are completed at the new track. While the . exact amount to be given in purse money has not been determined upon, the management has guaranteed the horsemen some purse and handicap races of sufficient value to attract the better clarfs of horses in training in the west and some shipments are expected from the eastern .tracks.
