Mackenzie Orders His Horses Sold, Norfolk. Va.. April 20. Withdrawals were again, numerous at the Norfolk track this afternoon, tho fields in a majority of instances being riddled by scratching. Horsemen who looked for an, improvement in the going were disappointed, as the track was bad and In spots quite heavy. Jockey Joe McCahey was the real thing in the ridiug line. He won with three of his mounts, Ben Lomond, Walter Scott and Agnar. The last-named wou his race with comparative ease, but on Walter Scott and Ben Lomond MeCahey was forced to do his utmost. Ben Lomond just did manage to last long enough to beat the fast closing Firewood a head. Firewood was much the Ijest and should have won. He came from last place on the backstretch and at the linish was going much the faster than the wimier. Toe May fell in this race after they had gone au eighth of a mile, probably because of having stepped into a hole. She was in the rear division at tho time of the mishap and her rider escaped with u mud bath. The lirst disqualification of the meeting came with the running of the third race, which went to Walter Scott. Auto Maid, which finished second, swerved to the inner fence at the sixteenth post when, little Sweeney went to his whip ami let go the fillys head. She interfered with Doodle Dandy, knocking him against the fence. The latter was closing, stoutly at the time and but for being crowded might have won. The change in the placing made Doodle Dandy second and Maxcutius third. High Private scored another victory over Live Wire today, winning in handy fashion after making most of the pace. It is said that R. J. Mackenzie has decided to retire from racing so far as the thoroughbred is concerned. With this end in view he has announced that all of the horses that he is racing here are for sale. William Walker secured the useful plater Michael Angelo yesterday, paying ,000 for him.
