RACING STRINGS REACH WOODBINE. Stabling- Accomodations at Course of Ontario Jockey Club in Keen Demand for Approaching- Meeting. Toronto, Out.. April 20. Woodbine had some interesting arrivals this week. The Woodstock Stable of ten head came in from their winter quarters at The Firs, while C. A. Crews Half-Way House contingent also moved into town. Mr. Boyles champion is Detective, aud the Meddler horse looks his quality. The others arc four aud three-year-olds, and the umnerieal strength of the stable will reach fifteen when the five two-year-olds that wintered in New York are brought on in the course of a few days. Those now ut Woodbine are: Detective, ch. h. 5, by Meddler Admiration. Tophet. b. c, 4, by Poutiac Tamcla. Cast Steel, cli. f. 4. by Pontiac Castalwut. Allancen. ch. f. 3. by Stalwart Allanette. Golden Wedding, br. f, 3, by Golden Maxim Wedding Day. Helen Winter, ch. f, 3, by Stalwart Heliopolis. Lady Lome, b. f. ., by Stalwart Lady llsley. Rosedalc b. f, by Woolsthorpe Ilanrosc. Cypher Code, b. f, .!. by Disguise Pastoral. Nelclien, br. f, :!, by Singleton Miss Pakington. The ever-green Caper Sauce, oue of the most useful horses for his opportunities in Canada, is as ready as the day he won the Coronation Stakes, seven years ago, ridden by Otto Wonderly. This is his seventh season on the turf, and he will not bo retired so long as lie is tlie champion Province-bred selling plater. The old fellow is not the star of the stable, though. The high place Is occupied by Amberite, sister of Shiinonese and daughter of Lyddite, both winners of the Kings Plate, and meant for a Plate winner herself next year. This filly cost Mr. Crew ,050 at the Valley Farm yearling sale, and he thinks she was cheap at the price. Amberite certainly loses nothing by comparison with either Lyddite or Shimonese at the same age. and her yearling trial last fall showed speed quite in proportion to her looks. She went on the scales on her way in aud registered 1,015 pounds, or only 70 pouuds less than old Caper Sauce. She has not the least lumber about her, but Is beautifully made and proportioned on a generous scale, finite justifying the comment of her owner. "Theres one that will hold any of your Kentucky-bred two-year-olds. And she wont be two years old. either, until the first of May." Halfway, the third member of the stable, was not trained last year and has never started. The Crew stuble, trained by Stan Mumford, consists of: Caper Sauce, b. g. !, by Morpheus New Dance. Halfway, ch. g. 3, by Ornie Shore Verna K. Amberite, eh. f, 2, by Martimas Lyddite. The lirst of the progeny of Wire In to see a racu course are now at Woodbine,- where trainer Ed Whyte has just received from R. J. Mackenzies Kirktield Farm four youngsters owing parentage to the horse that performed so gallantly in the Kirktield colors a few years ago. The new-comers are the following: Bird Cage. eh. f. 2, by Wire Iu Burdcttc. Glenwire. b. f, 2, by Wire In Glenac. Birthmark, eh. g. 2, by Wire In Scarlet. Shore Dream, ch. f, 2, by Ormc Shore Idlo Dream. The Wire In youngsters resemble their sire and if they can duplicate his deeds on the course they will lie continuing the success of a great popular favorite. The Ormc Shore lillys dam. Idle Dream, is a sister to Tourenne. one of the best horses that ever carried the Mackenzie colors. The youngsters are green, nothing in the way of training having been done with them up to the present, but they look like good material and if tlie ability is there, trainer Whyte may be trusted to develop it. He has also in charge the following older horses, the last-named being Joseph Mackenzies "Kings Plato candidate: Bursar, ch. g, 4. by Rassotlaw Burdettc. Laurier. br. g. 3, by Orsinl Plumeria. Miss Martimas, b. f, 3, by Martitnas Butter Scotch. Training operations, like all other affairs dependent on weather conditions, are backward this spring. Many horses are now quartered at Woodbine and arc using the galloping ground that the track affords. Accommodation is going- to be scarce and late applicants will find their requests cannot be met. S. 0. Hildreth. who lias made many stake entries here, lias asked for space for twenty -six horses, but the club canp.ot provide It.
