DANFIELD, quickest at the start, showed the most speed all the way and hung on more gamely than usual when the final drive crane. SELWIK ran in closest pursuit of the lender from the start, hut was driving hard all of the last eighth. VAN DEN began slowly, but gained steadilv. then tired in the last .furlong and just lasted long enough to outstay OAKHURST for third place. The latter ran on the outside all the way and covered more ground than anything else in the race. SERVICENCE finished gamelv and close up. BENDAGA ran a good half. The latter began fast and showed much speed. but was carried out when entering the homestretch and finished in the middle of the track. CHERRY M.EP was crowded back In the early running, but humped her way through and finished gamely. LAKE TAHOE ran well. SPRING BOA HI ran a good race, but tired. PRIS-OILMAN took the lead at once and, showing a great flight of speed, won all the way and finished eased up. HOFFMAN closed a gap quickly and ran close up nearly throughout, but was tiring at the end and just lasted long enough to outstay GUY FISHERS rush. The latter came through on the inside and responded gamely to punishment in the stretch drive. ASPIRIN showed a flash of speed while rounding the far turn, where he moved up on the outside with a rush, but tired finally. JIM BASEY showed speed, but tired as if short.
