FAST TRIALS AT LOUISYILLE HORSES KEYED IIP FOR NEXT WEEKS OPENING AT CHURCHILL DOWNS. Selling Plater Credited With Fastest Work-Out of Hie Day Horsemen Begin to Return Their Oharges from Lexington. Louisville, Ky., May 4. Sensational was the work at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park this morning under sunny skies and over fast tracks. The Derby candidates all did only slow exercise, hut the older horses and some of the two-year-olds figuratively burnt nil the track. The fastest live-eighths of the morning was by Crow Kohb, a three-year-old owned by .lake Greenburg. He went the distance in 1:02s, running the first quarter in 23s. three-eighths in 35 and the half in 495. This work was nearly equaled by King Olympian. V. F. Schultes good four-year-old which went live-eighths in 1:0.!. He went the first quarter in 24?.. three-eighths in 3!J and the half in 4!t. A half-sister to Martine II. in Lou Jones stable, did the fastest work among the two-year-olds here today. She ran a half mile in 40. She went the iirst quarter in 23 and three-eighths in :."?. Upright, from Lexington to the Downs, lie did not start him in the I.luo Crass Stakes owing to the track conditions at Lexington, which prevented giving him proper work for the event. The colt is a poor mud runner. Louis P. Doerhofer did not start Ursula Emma in the Elmeudorf Stakes today at Lexington, as trainer West found the Wily was sick. Upon her recovery she will be returned here.
