GOSSIP FROM WOODBINE TRACK. Toronto, Ont.. May S. Fifteen horses comprise the string that trafrier Littlelield now has iu J. E. Seagrams stables at AVoodbine, aud they have come from Waterloo ready for anything asked of them on tliu mile track. Seismic, Simcoe and Cruciie- dOr arc the most notable of the absentees. The last named will be taken up later in the season to be. prepared for the long-distance races of the fall, for which she has shown special aptitude. It is not unlikely that she may be nominated for the four-mile stakes in Kentucky. The string includes Bouquet, Tollendal, Galatine, Jane Shore. Spinning Wheel, Bride Lane, At Once, Kate Kittleberry, Havrock, Tiberius, Dollallolla, Possessed, Sati, Mad-rigalotlo and Persian Dance. Pride of place naturally belongs to Bouquet, and this line marc looks as well today as at any part of lier creditable career. Havrock was cut down in his only appearance last year, and the scar still shows, but he has quite recovered from the effects of the injury and is counted on to make a worths representative of the black and yellow in the Kings Plate. He showed high speed in the race in which he was hurt. Jane Shore, third last year In the Plate, was always a beautiful animal and has done well since her three-year-old season. She led the Plate held for more than three-quarters of a mile and went that distance in 1:155, so that on the scoro of speed her admirers have the Indian sign on this years candidates. She can run as fast any any of them and demonstrated it with the colors up. The added year may enable her to carry further her great swirtness. Galatine and Kate Kittleberry are English horses, imported last fall, which have yet to be seen at the post in this country. The Onno colt. Bezant, was not brought down. The five two-year-olds are all home-broils, and Mr. Seagram has as ninny more at borne from which to select material for next years Platers. Manager John Evans and jockey Phil Musgrave are With the establishment. Of the twenty nominations for the Kings Plate of the year of King Georges coronation only one was declared out on May 1, leaving nineteen oliglbles, from which the probable field of eight or nine starters will be made up. James Bovaird of Brampton withdrew Miss Liberty, the three-year-old filly by Martimas Cuba Free, but there are several others that already may be counted on as unlikely to. start, while the training developments of the next ten days will produce other changes. Chapparal is doubtful and Match Boy was not brought down from AVatcr-loo, so that he may be counted out. Itushwater, of the Valley Farm string, has been- sent home for another year, while Lady Bass, Brampton and New-minster complete the list of unlikely starters. The race Is considered an open one among those remain? ing. St. Bass. Miss Martimas, Jane Shore, Havrock, Powdennan, Legislator, Commola, Wliaup and Pla-cerland are all given a chance to win. George C. Taylor has qualified Nasarian, Wool-fonso and Woolvine as hunters, and they will race in that class. The first named is expected to make good across country, but will not be mn through the field until next year. Mr. Taylor is convinced that five years old is early enough for steeplechasers to race.
